Drinking in the evening (Day 2 Late Evening)

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

Festival days were always rather busy ones, and the Inn's common room was evidence of that. Still Shouji had managed to get a small table in one of the corners to himself and was enjoying a little sake before he returned to his ship for the evening to sleep.

He'd changed since the eearlier feast and was wearing a simple kimono in the sea green of his clan, with little markings outside his mons. It wasn't flashy clothing, but it did leave him standing out a bit in a crowd mostly made fo crab.

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi felt like doing a little predicting before possibly heading to The Hole later and the inn was always a pretty decent place to start off the night. Smelled better, could get a decent bite to eat, and could usually strike up a bit of a conversation here or there.

The big Crab walked in wearing a decent enough kimono in Crab colors, it was nothing special but not low quality either. He scanned the room and found mostly a pretty typical crowd but a spot of green in a sea of blue caught his unnatural looking eyes. Daichi made his way over to the Mantis and said in a bright voice "Evening there Yoritomo-san! Hope the days been finding ya well. Mind if I join ya for a drink? Don't usually get too many Mantis this way but seems you all are crawling out of the wood work lately!"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

It hadn't been hard to spot the behemoth of a man in the crowd, and even less difficult when the stranger had started to make his way over. He thought he may have seen him in the Hole the previous evening, but it was hard to say exactly. "I don't mind company for a drinking." Shouji Replied, dipping into a short bow in his seat.

"Company makes sake taste better after all. Though I suppose it'd also only fair I introduce myself before we get too much further into conversation. "I'm Tsuruchi Shouji, Captain of the Sea Fox." He offered the man a warm smile. "From your words I take it you've met some of my crew that are spending time in this fair village?"

[Hida Daichi]

"Truer words never spoken friend, company and sake make the best pair!" He said returning the bow and sitting opposite the Mantis "This one goes by Hida Daichi, its a pleasure to meet ya."

He nodded to the captain's last statement "Hai indeed I have! Had a lovely bath with a small Moshi that said she was part of your crew, sounded like she was newer, still learning the ropes so to speak. Besides that saw a few of ya last night at the party for my brother's wedding."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

The man proved he was at least adept at moving past the messy details. Like not being able to identify a Mantis by his mons, and Shouji wasn't going to press the matter. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance as well Hida-san." The Mantis replied, raise a hand to beckon over another servant.

"That sounds like Meiko." Minari would of got an entirely different reaction, and she wasn't new. "It was Minari and Tetsuo at the party with me." He smirked. "I had been thinking I had seen you here, but it was a lot of new faces. Still I wish I had gotten the chance to congratulate your Brother. From everything I hear Daidoji-san is a fine match."

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi was indeed one to glaze over anything that he didn't deem important, mistaking a Mon was exactly that kind of thing. He made a mistake but it was corrected now, no point in apologizing for it. The big Hoda smiled "Indeed it was, cute little thing she was. Seemed a little sheltered by my take, especially for a sailor but not a bad thing all considered."

"Hai my brother is a good man, I think he'll make Daidoji-san very happy! Though I lament to see us lose such a fine warrior as he!"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"She was very sheltered before her time on the ship." Shouji offered with a soft chuckle. "She preforms her duty well though, and honestly it's pleasant to have someone on the ship that isn't all that crass."

"I've not had the chance to talk with him, but he is the picture of a Hida warrior. I'm sure he'll be missed on the wall, but we all do what we must."

[Hida Daichi]

"That makes a right amount of sense, from the way she described them the Moshi lands sound pretty boring to me. Good on her for getting out to see the world!" He bellowed a bit "so the rest of your crew are a bunch of crass sailors eh? Sounds like a lot id fit in better with than Moshi-san! Nice girl mind you just a bit more proper than im used to dealing with!"

A servant arrived with sake and he nodded thanks raising his cup "Kampai!" He said enthusiastically raising his cup before knocking the drink back

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"I suppose that has a lot to do with what your thoughts on reading are." The Captain offered with a slight smile. "Reading and quiet contemplation is fun to some."

The drink arrived and the Crab raised his, so Shouji followed suit. "Kampai!" He declared and drained the glass.

[Hida Daichi]

"Oh tsuruchi-sama the last book I read had pictures in it and the subject matter wasn't really appropriate for talking about in public!" He said with a laugh after finishing his drink and pouring another and offering to fill the Tsuruchi's cup as well.

"To each there own has always been .y saying but I'm a man of doing, id rather be doing great deeds that people read about than studying someone else's. Or just doing a great amount of drinking."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Well I imagine that depends a bit on who is in public with you." The Mantis replied with a soft chuckle. "On a ship, well... You discuss all kinds of things with little worry. At least as long as you have no passengers."

He accepted the refill with a nod of thanks. "There is a benefit to both i find, there is some wisdom that can be found in books. Though I'm quite fond of doing myself." He raised his glass. "As well as a bit of drinking."

[Hida Daichi]

"Fair enough, I assume a crew can be more like family or fellow soldiers with the bonds you build. Less to hide when people know and care about you. Not that I'm prone to being overly subtle or hiding things well." he chuckled "I guess I'll soon get a chance to learn all about crew relationships when I join the Mantis here soon."

"As for reading, I think its important, I'm sure there are lessons to be learned and knowledge to be gained but I just don't have the attention span to sit there and focus on words on paper. I start getting all jittery and think about literally anything else. But if my body is in motion and I'm doing something then I can focus on that for hours." his natural grin widened a bit "and as for drinking well it may not always be the right choice for an activity but i've rarely found it to be the wrong one!"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Joining the Mantis are you?" He glanced towards the man and raised an eyebrow. He wasn't aware the man was engaged, but then sometimes these things happened rather rapidly.

Sounded like the nature of a natural ships hand, not any type of commander though. Not that everyone was fit for command or wanted it. "Anything in particular you like to do then, that can keep you focused like that. Or is more just physical activity in general?" It was something worth knowing... Probably. "Yes, I'd say that's especially true among the Crab. Though the Mantis often look at drinking in a similar way."

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi nodded taking a drink from his cup "Yep! As of about say, five hours ago. Got told I was to marry this Yoritomo woman, Captain of the other ship that came to the village for this. I suppose its not all official like cause she has to talk to her lord but its halfway to being done with my mother helping arrange the thing." He said with an easy going smile

"As for activities I enjoy working out, fighting, drinking, practicing kata and playing the shamisen. These thick fingers don't look it but they're nimble as a fox across those strings!"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Ah, well congratulations. A man your size might find life aboard a Kobune a bit cramped, but there is more then enough to keep your hands occupied. almost always something that needs to be done around a ship, at least when it's in motion." He hadn't met the Captain of the other Mantis vessel here, so it was hard to say more but he added a bit anywyas. "Depending on what her duties are, could be you see your share of fighting too."

"Shamisen, huh?" Shouji offered with a raised eyebrow. "Can't say that exactly was what I was expecting you to say. But a hobby is always a good thing. Maybe I'll even get the chance to hear you play sometime."

[Hida Daichi]

"She said as much, said her ship mostly moves goods from one place to another. Sometimes they pick up the goods in a port, sometimes they uh well find them while out at sea. Considering she said part of why she wanted to marry me was that she was looking for a strong warrior I assume there will be plenty of fighting."

"And yep I enjoy staying up after a night of drinking and plucking at the strings, sometimes to a song, sometimes just plucking around until I find a tune." he said with a big smile "What of you Tsuruchi-san? what do you enjoy doing when you're not running a ship?"

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

That sounded like some of the acivites of a large number of his clan, bot that he would go into anymore detail about what that was then the Hida had already said. The man might be a bit of a reluctant pirate, but he would be one after this marriage. "Sounds like somethign that will suit you well then."

He brought his glass to his lips and took a sip. "Often times my duty extends to tasks on land when I am in port, but I suppose I have some time for myself as well." Lookign at his glass he smiled. "I enjoy a good drink, and practicing my bow if there is space for it. As well as just seeing new places and new faces. I don't really have any hobbies to speak of though, like you and the shamisen."

[Hida Daichi]

"I guess I should have figured by the name that you would have some skill with a bow. Are you a bushi by training then?" He asked with one raised eyebrow as he took a long drink from his own cup.

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"No." The wasp replied with an easy smile. "My training is in other directions. That doesn't mean i haven't spent time with a bow among other things though."

"Even if im no master."

[Hida Daichi]

"Nice." He said taking a sip "never much looked into using the bow, there's something satisfying about literally crushing your opponent something visceral you just don't get firing arrows at things. But they are damn useful to have."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"Especially on a boat, where it's not always easy to be face to face fighting your enemy." He looked over the man for a moment. "Hope you're good at keeping your footing, a deck isn't exactly the most solid place for fighting."

[Hida Daichi]

"You learn to be good at that, can't be much worse for footing than dead bodies and blood everywhere. But yeah I suppose I should at least learn the basics of it. Can't be a bad idea."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"A good idea, a mistep moving deck to deck can see you taking a unexpected swim. If the ships are close enough that could also see you crushed between the hulls." It didn't happen often but it did

"I'm sure you'll do just fine though, given your experience." Fighting on the wall couldn't be easy after all.

[Hida Daichi]

"As long as everything im fighting has the right number of eyes, limbs, and mouths i should be alright!" He said with a laugh and another drink.

"So have you been enjoying your time here so far? I know the village is hardly the most exciting place in the world but it has charms if you know where to look."

[Tsuruchi Shouji]

"The festival was entertaining." The Captain replied with a half smile. "And the party last night. Past that though?" He shrugged. "Not so much."

"Not alot here as you can said."
