[Day 1 - MN] Happiness (Closed)

[Dapper Dog]

Jun was scared not of her company but the whole idea of sneaking, well being escorted in by brother of the Lord of the castle was hardly sneaking but it was risky. But then again she realized that his mother was also the provincial daimyo and it wasn’t like the guards were going to hassle someone like him for bringing a guest to the castle.

Still it was a risk.

But it was an exciting risk. Plus the view once they got to his room from the balcony was amazing. One could see the whole village and the waters beyond and much of the region. It was literally breathtaking.

[Hida Yoji]

Yoji took a moment to admire the view before joining Jun and said, “I never really appreciated the view until just now. I guess this is your first time seeing this from here. I… am glad you decided to come.”

“It’s been a trying day, everyone wants to meet me and strange things are afoot.”

[Dapper Dog]

“Strange things? Like what? Not strange bad like at the Wall right? We have not had such in a decade at least right?” she said with worry.

[Hida Yoji]

“Just the attention but tonight during the party I heard a woman’s voice, but it was no woman I had met before and she said something odd and cryptic… it unnerved me and I am not sure if I should tell my sister about it. I probably should get the Kuni involved in case we got ourselves another incursion,” he said grimly.

“But really just seeing everyone here and just how fast things are moving. This is going to happen, and I am not sure I am ready for that.”

[Dapper Dog]

“Are we going to be safe?” Jun said, her fear leaping back into her chest all over again.

[Hida Yoji]

Yoji approached and said, “This is the safest place to be, the Castle is warded and protected by some of the best soldiers I have served with. You are safe here, Jun, I would not let any monsters get to you. You know just like in the old days.”

He then rested his elbows on the balcony and added, “Those were simpler days.”

[Dapper Dog]

“We were silly kids, but we grew up and you were still samurai even then it just didn’t seem to matter as much. Or maybe it didn’t matter to you. But it mattered then and it matters now, this is good for you, you will have a beautiful new life and I am told the Crane bride is beautiful beyond measure,” she said wistfully.

“If I am lucky I might get to run the Inn like my aunt, I’ll never leave this village and that is fine.” Her heart was still pounding, was it the fear of the uncertainty that Yoji felt or the closeness of her friend after all these years.

[Hida Yoji]

“That’s what they say,” Yoji said, but his voice was not convinced. “Maybe you should see the Empire, Jun. Maybe there are places better for you than this village, I don’t know. Never mind, I don’t really know what is out there, but I am not really interested in anything beyond the friends I have in this room,” he said warmly.

[Dapper Dog]

“A peasant girl and a dog, you need better friends, Yoji-sama,” she said with a giggle though her cheeks were crimson from the gesture.

“You do me too much credit, but I will say this view is incredible and I am thankful you brought me here to see it.”

He laughed awkwardly unsure of what to do with the silence and moment. He just stared at her and she turned to him and smiled and then looked down and then abc into his eyes and then the world became a thousand different possibilities.

Time slowed, the moment stretched into near infinity and yet his mind could not focus on any single thought.

He was shocked out of this deep revelry with the feeling of lips on his and then reality came back to him. Had he made the first move or she, in the end it would matter little as what started on the balcony would end on the bed and stretch on long into the morning of the following day.

A bridge crossed, a jug broken that could not be mended.
