[Day 6 - LE] Noh is the Thing

No cause to a complaint is a bit too much. He thinks, remembering the offsetting unbalanced paintings on the walls, the architecture hostile to natural light, and Fuboshi's behavior. Still, if his senpai wanted to paint a good image, he would not ruin it.

In any case, vigilance was to be maintained. As such, the magistrate continued to keep watch for any threats or problems.

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

The Otomo expression is –– initially –– amusingly curious as Masao's starts ranting. He replies back with rhetorical serenity, "What is there not to believe? It is our Imperial Princess we are mentioning. I am trained to do that, Masao-sama. Actually, that's my duty."

Then, as he's about to explain what happened the other day to satisfy the Crane's inquiring, Saisei does cock his head back a bit as the Toritaka is mentioned. As he slowly turns his eyes to look at her, he says, "Huh? Toritaka-san?"

The Toritaka in question was beside a Tsuruchi. Her keen perception noticed that she was called. "Will you excuse me Tsuruchi sama? Seems that the river is calling."

She didn't have that motherly glare at the Otomo but he could note her frustration.

Saisei does cock his head back a bit as the Toritaka is mentioned. As he slowly turns his eyes to look at her, he says, "Huh? Toritaka-san?"

The Crane sighs, blinks, and quickly whispers, "You should have been resting..."

As she approaches them, Masao bows more formally than usual, bracing for her irritation. Or worse, her disappointment.

Slightly distracted by his whispers, he diverts attention back to the Crane to reply, "I would create roots in my feet if I rested more, Masao-sa--"

Saisei suddenly stops talking as he sees the Kakita bowing sharply to the Toritaka, and, looking at the Toritaka's lack of previous glare and renewed frustration, he simply does not compute.

He blinks a few times, then looks to Masao again. He wonders why a higher status samurai would bow so formally. Then eyes are back to the Toritaka.

Saisei bows formally in the same fashion, greeting with a, "Toritaka-san! Please, treat me well."

She cleared her throat and placed her arms inside her sleeves. "Good evening Otomo sama, Kakita sama..." Her inflexion did show a bit of frustration. She took a deep breath and let her frustration go with the air. "Perhaps, I should study divination because I knew that you would come. I am somewhat disappointed but then again only a strong shugenja can stop the flow of water." She shook he head in shame. "A shame that this one is not a strong shugenja."

The Otomo widens his eyes, not yet entirely sure of what was happening. It seemed it was directed towards him, but it could be Kakita since she metioned both. He provides an apologetic bow once again, saying, "Eto... I am sorry. Eto... Toritaka-san didn't want us to come... here?"

The Cranes fan flips up so he might speak more friendly to Saisei beside him.

"Toritaka-san is most honorably concerned about Saisei-san's health and well-being," he stresses quietly to the Otomo. "And she is not the only one. Attendance to the child of heaven is a great duty, but a great burden, is it not?"

She is glad that the migraine she had the last few day, was gone. "You are free to do as you wish, Otomo sama." She shrugged. "My suggestion is not going to be heeded so why would I waste your or my time." She stated calmly and collected. "Perhaps I should apologize to Otomo sama for being concern for his well being and leave." She bowed and took a step back.

He swallows dry, finally understanding the reasoning behind her mood. The Otomo notices he didn't sneeze this time, and he hasn't drank the tea with the herbs she provided either. That does activate his curiosity and he also notices how finely dressed she was.

A hint of a blush appears up and he bows again, "This one is too bold and impulsive. Eager to serve. Unworthy of Toritaka-san's good thoughts. I am ashamed, instead, and apologize."

The young man looks at the door. "I... I'll leave to recover. Pardon."

Having been uninvolved with the conversation, Konohamaru noticed the wounded Saisei make for the door and came to his side, willing to carry the burden that Saisei carried for them last night.

"Let me help you back. You need to rest."

"I did Oturi-denka." He replied with a deep bow to the scarred woman. "It was everything one expects from the Crane. They were tales well chosen too if I can tell anything from the crowd."

"It's my hope you enjoyed the evening as well."

"I thought so as well," she said in reply.

"Oh and I wanted to thank you for your hospitality during these interesting times, it has been a source of relief and comfort. The Crab have insisted I stay at the castle and I would not wish to insult there hospitality."

As the Otomo departs, Masao closes his fan and turns to Hanatsuko. He looks guilty, and leads with an apology: "Toritaka-san, this one apologizes for not seeing Otomo-san safely home earlier. His fidelity to duty is admirable, as well as dangerous." He bows his head, not finding any better words.
