The Crab

The Crab are always at War, even during the most peaceful days on the Wall they are at War. When they have to deal with affairs within Rokugan they are at War. When the Clan War broke out the Crab were already at war and had to make some regrettable decisions, they don’t talk about that. The Kuni scholars have redacted what they could but still it was not a good time for the Crab.

But they endured and were able to strike down the corrupted Emperor and then return to their lands to the war that never ends. In recognition of their role though they did get additional support from the Empress which would be needed as old frictions between them and the Crane would flare up many yearly conflicts and if it wasn’t war, then it was economic warfare by the Crane as well.

Thankfully they still have allies in the Mantis who helped to alleviate some of the pressure placed on them by the Crane and they were not made reliant on Crane rice like the Lion would become in the future.

The turning point for the Crab came during the Last Hantei War, they sided with the Oturi throne and held the line though at times their forces were strained holding the Wall against a resurgence from the Shadowlands and the Lion. The Unicorn came to their aid and destroyed a great deal of Crane holdings which would prompt many weddings between the Unicorn and Crab; a friendship that still remains after the war concluded.

Now the Crab turns to the Shadowlands as scouts say that something is stirring and activity has started to increase the Wall… is this the prelude to a new surge? A true test for a young Crab champion, Hida Genji, who is only 8 years of age, under the guardianship of his Aunt-Regent.
