They rebuilt it.
IIRC, it did get burnt and ravaged in the original timeline, but what made them have to leave it behind was that Daigotsu attacked it and the area became tainted.

GM Note

Just a heads up but there is an event on Day 2 that will require mild coordination, with up to 3 members from each Clan outside of the Crab and Minor Clans having to utilize the following skills Etiquette, Lore, and a Weapon Skill (not including Jiujutsu or Iaijutsu); each member will be responsible for one skill roll.

Crab and Minor Clans an opt to join as a group if they wish. The traits tied to said skill will be announced when the event goes live.
