[Day 4 - Early Afternoon] Chores and Busywork

[Dapper Dog]

"Alright ronin, show me where you saw it. Ijio, go fetch the Kuni," she said to her partner and gestured for Yue to lead the way.

[Yue]

Okay, this wasn't quite what she expected but was glad that this was getting some traction on the matter. She gave a few nods at Jun to show that things were going somewhere and gestured her to keep close.

"Over here, minisama," she said before she took them back to the inn to where the beam fell.

[Dapper Dog]

"So tell me what happened, leave nothing out, the Kuni will want to know," she said as she followed.

[Yue]

"Umh, well..." she said as she started on her tail, trying to make this as sensible as possible. What were they going to say if they thought she thought she was going through the same day?

"I was mopping the floor to earn my keep at the Inn and I saw some muddy footsteps on the ground that passed me. So I followed the footsteps up to the second floor and they disappeared before I could do anything. Before that, I saw this ghost-like girl who was wet and dripping. She said that she was sorry...but also that I was it? Then I heard Jun-san downstairs and I thought she was in trouble, so I rushed down and managed to get her out of the way before she could get crushed by a beam above," she recounted, combining both stories together.

[Dapper Dog]

"Well good job ronin," she said as she entered and looked around.

"I hope this isn't a portent of evil trying to invade."

[Yue]

Yue took a step back from the Crab and was sure to keep a constant eye on the ceiling to see what else could fall on her or anyone else. "It's been a strange day as is...Almost like you've done a few things already, don't you think?"

[Dapper Dog]

"That is how patrol works," she said in reply as she walked around and then knelt to look at the fallen beam. Other guests now looking at the source of the commotion.

"If it's a spirit not much we can do until the Kuni get here."

[Yue]

I take that as a no then...

"Right...I think it's a spirit but we'll be lucky if it's not," she said with a few glances given to Jun to make sure that she was with them, "are there any other temples or holy places here other than the fertility grounds?"

[Dapper Dog]

"The castle has a well maintained shrine, but not much outside of that. I would not worry too much, the Kuni priests would warn us long before anything terrible fell upon us," she said confidently.

Jun was there but quiet as her betters were speaking. The Crab added, "Good thing you were here that would have probably killed the girl," she said looking at the beam with a whistle.

A moment later a Kuni priest entered. He frowned and said, "What's this about ghosts?"

The Crab soldier said, "Speak to the ronin and peasant, they saw it."

The Kuni said, "Report, ronin and be quick about it."

[Yue]

Yue bowed deeply to the Kuni once he arrived. "So...I was mopping the floor earlier and noticed some mysterious tracks in the inn. I followed it and heard some whispers from a girl that looked sinister and soaked...like a ghost. She said things like 'you're it' and 'I'm sorry' before she disappeared. Then I heard Jun-san downstairs and quickly rushed down before she could get crushed by a beam in the ceiling. I know there have been whispers of ghosts on the beach but I don't know if they made it this far..."

[Dapper Dog]

"I see," he said looking around before revealing a scroll and muttering sutras to invoke the spirits his eyes glimmering with latent spirit energy.

He begins speaking intelligible words as he looks off into space.

The Hida soldier said, "They do that, he must be communing I guess."

[Yue]

"Right, right, shugenja stuff, she said with a few nods. This wasn't her area of expertise nor did she want it to be. Hopefully, it would be a matter of scan and destroy. She hadn't really even talked to anyone yet regarding the repeating day.

[Dapper Dog]

The Kuni frowned and said, "The spirits say something dark has passed through here but it did not seem corrupted by Jigoku."

[Yue]

"Even it's not corrupted by...that, it's still pretty bad right? Any sort of lingering misfortune or curse on the establishment seems very concerning..." she said as she glanced around, hoping she wasn't the only one who shared this concern. It wasn't her place to tell them how to do their job but she was hoping for some wards or charms as a remedy.

[Dapper Dog]

"I will ward the inn, of course," the Kuni said as he set about to cleansing the area.

[Yue]

Yue nodded in acceptance and stepped back for the Kuni to do his work. She turned her attention to Jun and gave her a look of assurance. "Hopefully this will stop her from coming back. You were really hurt by that pillar...I mean, you could have been hurt."

[Dapper Dog]

"You were amazing, Yue-sama, you saved my life!" Jun responded.

[Yue]

That should make Yue smile and blush but she wasn't so sure if she did anything. She would likely know in the morning. "No thanks needed, Jun-san...I just want things to go back to normal. It looks like things are mostly seen to now. Do you think you'll be okay for the rest of the day?"

[Dapper Dog]

"Of course Yue-sama," she said with a warm smile.

[Yue]

"Very good, I think I'll get to cleaning around what I can around here then," she said before giving her a nod.

Yue slowly backed up from the girl, almost expecting something else to fall on her before she made her return to her quarters. It didn't stop her from packing up her things to keep mobile, just in case. She couldn't shake the feeling from the back of her head that something else might befall on the inn after preventing this.
