[Day 8 - EN] Patches in the Light (Expecting)

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"But which one seeks to be only enough to their companion, Yuuwaku-chan?" He fans himself with a slight smile.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku looks at him archly.

"Do you find my behavior...objectionable, Sana-kun?"

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"Are you implying that you only seek to be good enough, Yuuwaku-chan?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku's eyes narrow slightly.

"Am I an object of your sadane, Sana-kun? Or is this a comment about the flowers earlier today?"

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He had an answer in the tip of the tongue, of course. But this was a proper sadane answer, and a proper sadane answer didn't consider the feelings of people, it concerned only being courteous.
So he gave up on it and tried to think a way to de-escalate the situation. He discovered himself incredibly bad at that.

Really, Sanaharu, you can't think of a single thing that doesn't...
Oh.
Why can't I?

"No and no," he replied, after an awkward lot of time, losing the playful tone that came when he played sadane.

It's no great concern, I just lost.
...But were we even playing to start?

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku looks at him through narrowed eyes for a moment longer, then draws a breath, holds it, and exhales slowly.

"Forgive me," she says. "I probably have had more to drink than was wise."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"The fault was mine. Worry not with it." He replies with a seated bow, and his expression changed of a sudden to some surprise — not actually that he was surprised, this was just his way of quickly changing the subject when the conversation took an unpleasant turn. "Oh my... How did I just notice now? Which day is today, Yuu-chan?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"It is [D8]," she replies. "Why?"

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"It's less than a week to the Iris Festival! Do you remember, the one with origami and sculpture competitions? The kites and dolls? When I complained about receiving kimonos every year and never getting flowers?"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Oh, right!" Yuuwaku says, brightening. "And there was that one kimono...I understand why you complained about it!"

She laughs lightly.

"I feel sorry for that one weaver, though. I hope she got better at the work!"

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"Since it was too big for an adult... It ended up fitting now, just with a few adjustments, curiously enough. I still keep it as a casual kimono for when I don't want to mess up the others with paint droplets or dirt."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"I thought I recognized it with Kakita-nikutai," Yuuwaku notes, nodding. "It wouldn't have looked good on him."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"It wouldn't have looked good on the heimin that work on my house, Yuu-chan."
He looks around, but not only in front of him but also at who could be behind.
...Forgetting they were near a wall.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Are you worried someone will see you with me, Sana-kun?"

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"Not in a thousand years. I was worried someone would see this."
He hides half his face with his fan on one hand, and takes her hand under the table with the other.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

She squeezes his hand back.

"You remain so shy, Sana-kun."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He hides more of his face behind his fan.
"I thought this was brave!"

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"I can show you brave, Sana-kun."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"I find myself drawn to my curiosity."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Are you sure, now?" Yuuwaku teases. "It might be thought scandalous."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He squints his eyes a bit, then they widen as he shivers for a second. "You couldn't be planning to..."

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku squeezes his hand tighter, holding him in place, leans over as best she can, and kisses him. It is a brief touch of her lips on his, only that, but there is clearly heat in it, like waving a hand over a burning brazier.

[Asahina Sanaharu]

So she was intending to.
He is quick to hide both their faces with the open fan and withdraws with no hurry not to draw suspicion. This was an exchange of gossip and only that.
He scans the area again but feels the imaginary weight of all eyes on him.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

Yuuwaku shakes her head, sadly.

"Still so worried about being seen, Sana-kun. You'll wrinkle with it."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"Of course! You do know what will happen if we are seen." He still hides most of his face.
