(D4 ME) Asking for Paintings (Closed)

Writing two letters asking for permission to enter the castle — he knew not if he would be welcome at such a late hour with the Toritaka — he handles them out to a servant by the entrance of the Bronze Carp. The letter, other than the normal formality, asked as well for a private meeting between him, the Falcon and Kitusuchi.

He rests both hands as the breeze dispensed the use of fans, stopping one moment in self-awareness to realize how the entire situation was as they waited for the lord to welcome them or not.

"Toritaka-san, do you deal with such problems often?"

The Toritaka brought her entourage, the dog beside her and the falcon on her shoulder. She nodded. "Well with spiritual crossing, yes. With time going back to a certain point, no." She bowed at the guard.

He bit his lip from the inside. There is, more proof than you needed that you really got back in time somehow. "Toritaka-san, do you believe we may be trapped in a spiritual realm right now?"

"That is a possibility. We do not have clear understanding of the spirit realms." She shrugged and looked at the falcon on her shoulder. "What do you believe, Kuma?"

Then how am I in this realm instead of Ningen-do. Unless...

"Hmmm" She sighed still looking at the falcon. "You are of little help today."

There is so much I can do and just remember this is not yesterday today is today.

"Great..." She looked at the Asahina and blinked a few times. "He can't help."

[Hida Kitusuchi]

The guards alert the Lord of the Castle and after about thirty minutes they are shown to the Lord of the Castle in a meeting room. There is a large map of the region on a table and Kitusuchi is there with several aides. Standing across from her is her mother.

She looked to the two samurai and said, “What did you need?”

He bows deeply as he enters the room. "Kitusuchi-sama, Fuboshi-sama, it is an honour to meet you. We have been investigating, alongside some shugenja, including amongst then Hiruma-ue, the happenstance of influence from the spirit realms on the Blue Bird House and in the remaining of the village. Hiruma-ue has confirmed that the place has, indeed, a trail of malevolence, violence, suffering, and hatred from the spirits that roam near there."

Because one does not simply enter a castle to ask for pictures of your grandfather.

[Hida Kitusuchi]

"Do go into detail, this is the first I am hearing about much of this. I received a letter from your magistrate but this seems far more dire than I was led to believe," she said.

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

The Toritaka just bowed and kept quiet. It was not her place to talk she was a lowly minor clan samurai. She did keep an eye out for any unusual activity in the room. Her eyes tried to follow any spirit around.

"Kitsuki-san said that she saw a gaki on a bath house, presumably not the Blue Bird's, and that she, a Hiruma and an Ichiro fought an evil being that resembled a dog on the beach, but this dog-being did not seem to be cursed by the Dark One. She also said that she saw two humanlike spirits, of a father and of a child."
He gave them a pause to assimilate the information.
"The last two are our biggest worry."

[Hida Fuboshi]

"We have no reports about any creature at the docks," Fuboshi interjected.

[Hida Kitusuchi]

“Tai-kun mentioned something about a monster and other madness, but it makes no sense,” Kitusuchi responded.

[Dapper Dog]

"My Lord, no creature has been reported. There was a missing sailor of the Mantis and the peasant fisher, but nothing concrete. We also have the madman claiming he was eaten last night, which I would have scoffed at but perhaps it could be true," she said.

"Toritaka-san, tell them your tale."

[Hida Kitusuchi]

Kitusuchi looked to the woman expectantly.

The Toritaka snapped out of her analysis when asked to tell her tale.

How many times will you be telling this tale?
"As many times it is needed." She whispered apparently to herself

"I have been investigating a rumor given to me. I went to the beach since it is my duty to find spirits crossing to Ningen-do. What seem to be typical for hauntings, the temperature began to lower into a chilling cold. We heard laughter of a child. Then the debris on the beach that included pieces of people and pieces of the boat no bigger than a cat. Then the child started to moan, a wail and the following warning: Four nights of pain, my curse shall reign… Days without end, their hearts must mend.” The Toritaka took a breath. “Ending it with: Mother, father… return to me, or I shall call you to the sea.”
She bowed as she finished her story.

[Dapper Dog]

"That isn't everything you told me," the Kuni added. "She claims this day is repeating, that all of this has already happened."

[Hida Fuboshi]

Fuboshi chuckled and said to Hanatsuko, "You pulling my tits girl?"

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

"I know Kuni sama. Just want for the samurai present understand the first part of my story." She bowed.

Fuboshi chuckled and said to Hanatsuko, "You pulling my tits girl?"

Hanatsuko glared at the older Hida. "It is no jest Hida sama. There are spirits running around with ill intentions." She bowed. "Aji san has known that this has happened once before."

Hanatsuko once again cleared her throat once again. "This child spirit goes by the name of Hitomi... and seems that she has been looking for her parents in town."

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"Trying to explain things where they started... There are two versions of the same tale. In the Crab version, there was a duel between Doji Bugeihime and Hida Gusari. On the Crane one, it does not specify names but says that a Doji was traveling there on a ship named the Azure Orchid, the ship sank on the sea and she died. No duel on this version."

He reads the temperature of the room. This was quite a thing he was saying.

"The records of the Azure Orchid support the Crab version."

[Hida Kitusuchi]

Kitusuchi rubbed her brow and said, “So what are you asking for? The parents of this ghost child? The Azure Orchid sank about a century ago, they are also dead if they are tied to this story.”

[Asahina Sanaharu]

"Any painting, relic, jewelry or even information you may have on either Hida Gusari, his children or Hitomi, borrowed for this night. Even records of the family line would help."

[Hida Kitusuchi]

“No.”

She then turned back to her council and added, “Junza-san, look into this matter of the spirits and determine what needs doing. Bring that monk here as well, just in case. Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention, Junza will handle this matter. Dismissed.”

[Dapper Dog]

"This way," Junza said as she guided the samurai out into the hall.

[Toritaka Hanatsuko]

The Toritaka took a deep breath. "Hida sama? I..."
Don't push it, you'll regret it.

"I think the town may be in danger if you dismiss this just like that."

[Hida Kitusuchi]

Kitusuchi frowned and said, “I am taking this matter with extreme caution, thus I am putting my best on it. But I will not be questioned when it comes to the security of my realm. Don’t push it any further, Junza will make the final determination of what needs doing.”

“Dismissed.”

[Asahina Sanaharu]

He nodded, rising up and giving her both a deep bow, following the Kuni.
Maybe he could explain something to her.

"Come, Toritaka-san. We ought to find another way to satisfy the ghost of Gusari's daughter."
