Koemi slept like a person that did not cut off people's heads on a regular basis. As it were, sleep was the only time her appearance wasn't particularly unsettling. So peaceful she seemed that the ship's cat made his way into her lap, burrowing in and providing a nice amount of heat.

The so-called butcher of the boat seemed to notice the animal, only slightly. She reached down and started petting him. That was, after all, what one should normally do with a cat.

But Minari's words came back to her. Her eyes shot open and she fumbled out of bed, sending Archie flying off. As a cat, he of course landed on his feet, and voiced his displeasure at the sailor. "Holy shit! You're not supposed to be here!" she protested. "Go away! Shoo!"
