No Place Like (Your Temporary) Home [Day 1, LA, Sea Fox]

Having pulled her rope out, holding it in her hand, she walked about swinging the end of it in a little circle as she walked. When, if, stopped she gave the quick notice of who she was and where she was going, why of course too. Which eventually brought her up toward the boat she'd come in on. Stepping over toward the side of it she called out with a unceremonious, "Yo!" to see who's attention she might grab.

Finding a little post, in the meantime, she leaned up against it and kept twirling her rope. With enough time waiting she'd even just start focusing on watching how the end passed by the same spot each time, and corrected her arc when it didn't.

The 'yo!' caught the attention of one of the Mantis at least, as Minari was finishing checking the tidiness of the deck. Even if she could probably tell Tetsuo to do it, she didn't trust that brat with the important things, and a messy deck was indeed a bad thing.

"Hey, Yoko-san," the navigator gave the ronin a wave. "Enjoying being back on land?"

"Quite a bit," she said with a laugh, settling the swinging rope into her hand and coiling it up again. Leaning off the post she walked around a little, "There's a lot more personal freedom in choice of where to be and go that I didn't realize how much I missed," she laughed, walked up toward the boat.

"Suppose I should ask if I can come aboard, eh?"

"Of course, come aboard," she gestured for the ronin woman to come up the plankway. "Aye, there's more freedom to move around without bumping into anyone... you can actually walk straight ahead for several minutes without runnin' into anything." Minari chuckled with some good humor, patting the shoulder of one of the crew members to confirm he'd done a good job.

"What's your future lookin' like, now that we've been ashore a bit?"

"If I measured by the day alone I'd be spending a lot of time wandering about the country-side watching folks and getting watched as I practiced with my blade," she said with a bit of a laugh, coming up the plankway. Walking up toward anything she might find nearest Minari, perhaps a box not yet stowed away. Leaning up against it she crossed her arms. "Still, there's certain to be work near here now if not soon with all the wedding's guests. Figure I might find myself someone with spare coin and a thing they need done."

"Mm, should be some work to be done. Of course, doesn't mean the Mantis can't continue to offer you work either while we're here." She leaned against the railing of the boat, elbows up behind her on the surface.

"If you're interested to hear...?" Minari smirked.

"Hey, rare I get a chance that I get to come back to good employers with the coin to back it. You have a need just give me the point and I'm your Ronin," she glanced around the ship for a moment. "Not quite a hand you'd use around here, but I've got a blade and a means to use it. Find you're in something of a need for that while you're here? Well, you've got first name on the list eh?" she said with a little laugh, there wasn't a list.

"Oohh~, good to know I'm a valued customer," she snickered, then snorted a laugh.

"Hopefully, your blade won't be needed though. The Mantis wants this marriage to happen between the Crab and the Crane, so for now... continue supporting that, report to us if you come across anyone trying to sabotage it. For now, well, Katsu'll have to approve of this too but I don't think that will be an issue since he seemed impressed with you. As did the captain. Anyway," she waved that away and looked from the horizon to Yoko...

"For now, we'll continue to offer you food, your usual hammock on the ship to sleep, we'll take care of you as part of your crew; meaning if you're hurt we'll tend to you, and maintaince for your weapons and armor we can do too. I'll personally throw in some coin now, as a sign of good faith."

"Now that sounds like a helluva deal, sounds swell too," she said, pursing her lips a bit as she contemplated. Laying both her hands back onto the crate she was leaning up against she hoisted herself up onto it. Shifting herself back up onto it, she found some comfort in this nice new perch. Giving a quick check of her ropes, the one's keeping the bottles to her waist near as most everything else in her life.

"If I didn't have the journey here I'd start thinking you were about to ask me to do some rather unsavory things, but.." she looked to Minari, reading her from head to toe. With a little nod she shook her head. "Nah, you and none of the others are that type. So yea," she said with a wicked grin, "that sounds real nice. Still, eyes and ears, don't think I've ever received so much for just that but then.. guess I can see how it's worth it to you. Something comes up I'll give you the word," she gave another quick nod.

"Consider me on board, if it all, you know," she gave a wave of her hand in the air a bit as if it was supposed to mean something.

She snorted a laugh. "You know we don't ask you to do stuff we wouldn't do ourselves. And as you've seen, we're a merchant vessel and not a warfare one." Minari nodded approvingly though as she watched the ronin.

"I got coin and I like spending my coin on good investments. You, Yoko-san, are a good hard-working woman, who isn't afraid to scrub a deck either or drink with an Otomo." Looking back to the horizon on the other side of the ship, Minari leaned her head back slightly and gave a soft sigh. "Well, I hope that this marriage will go on without any trouble, and that is the interest of the rest of the crew too. And we're not going to forget how close we are to The Wall too, but... I do hope that's not going to be an issue. We're mostly worried about what kind of shitstorm might come from all the different guests trying to sabotage things for their own gain."

She reached for the coin purse tucked under and attached to her sash, undoing the knots keeping it secured.

"Admittedly I enjoy drinking with an Otomo far more than the former but.." she smirked and shrugged. "Gotta take the work you can, eh?" added with a chuckle.

"Other guests, I can duel as well as I can fight, way I figure. You and yours have need of my blade in either way you know where to look, eh? Don't really matter too much to me who needs the thwappin' but.. I would certainly prefer it not be from anything wild coming on up from the- well.. south. Anyway, always hope that there won't be any issues, but plan for 'em, right? Good way to live. Only way to live, sometimes."

"Aye. Always plan and prepare for the worst. Would rather have an extra blade that won't be needed, than to be caught with our trousers down and think fuck we really could've used another sword right now." Minari grinned, glad that Yoko had hit the same wave-length as the Mantis had, and produced two fine coins from her purse.

"Consider this the up-front payment for your services. If anything too hazardous happens, like... well, worst case scenario shit, then I'll wrangle some extra out of the cap'n or Katsu for you."

Holding out her hand, she waited for Yoko to accept the two koku.

"Prefer to keep swords out of the mix when pants go down, eh?" she said with her cocky smirk, crossing her arms a little as she chuckled at herself. Shaking her head she freed one of her hands to wave off the thought. Pausing she looked to the bag, focused on it a moment, and held out her hand toward Minari's.

"You're good folk, Moshi-sama, and this is.. already a whole lot," she paused and closed her hand, pulling it back before she accepted as she looked to the woman. "You certain?" she said, unfurling the hand again and putting it out once more, but held her hand lower, as she looked the woman in the eye.
