Minor Clans in 1178

The Minor Clans
The Badger, newly formed Bat, Dragonfly, Falcon, Fox, Hare, Monkey, Sparrow and Tortoise clans are what make up the minor clans and sometimes the Minor Clans Alliance which is currently just the Monkey, Hare, and Fox at the moment. The Bat are eager to be a part of it and it is expected they will join in the coming years.
The Minor Clans are as the name states minor political factions that have specific goals and roles in the Empire, they have been involved with the many of the major moments in the Empire but often in smaller or more minor roles but not always.
In 1178 to be a Minor Clan samurai is to be a little fish among predators, but the Empress still holds to the decree of Hantei and no Great Clan can do war on the Minor Clans but that has not stopped the more militant clans using their power to gobble useful land under the guise of them being better able to manage it but the last time for this was 1165 and that was when the MCA were able to field a force and give a Unicorn raiding force a sound defeat at the Battle of Four Horns.
Of note the Tortoise would join the MCA but only if they are given a position of leadership since they are so close to the Imperial Families not so much the Empress who finds the clan to be detestable and despises their clan champion. Thankfully the Otomo and Miya see the value of the Tortoise and keep the clan from being completely dissolved.
