The Lion
The Lion endure, their massive armies have been diminished as they are no longer subsidized by the Throne of the Emperor, the Unicorn now forming the bulk of the modern Imperial Legions. A powerful militant clan they were pivotal in the Clan War and then nearly brought the Hantei line back to supremacy in the Last Hantei War, despite Oturi sitting on the throne, there is a great deal of enmity between the Imperial families and the Lion, too powerful to completely cow, and too useful to neuter, for now they prowl lashing out at their neighbors to stave off famine and to keep their bloated armies fed.
The Akodo still reign, reinstated by Oturi, she passed on leadership to her nephew, Akodo Daru who then passed the mantle upon his death during the War of the Last Hantei to his daughter, Akodo Kotehime who currently leads the Lion. Maimed during the war, she is missing her left hand and wears a bronze prosthetic. Still her greatest strength is tactical mind, even with the greater support of the Throne the Lion have been a constant thorn in the sign of the Unicorn which has grown into a great enmity between the houses of Akodo and Moto and any time the two families take the field the casualties are immense and brutal.
Fighting alongside the Crane during the Last Hantei War did bring about one strange occurrence where the current daughter of the Matsu clan daimyo, was born of a whirlwind union between the current daimyo and a handsome Doji duelist and now the white haired young woman melds both into one fiery package. Matsu Aiku has already set about making sure that her lineage will not be used against her by throwing herself into many conflicts against the Crane and Unicorn. It is well known that Akodo Kotehime and Matsu Aiku are vicious rivals, the Matsu were not keen in raising their blades against the sitting Emperor and many blame the house of Akodo for the current dire straits of the clan.
In a bright spot though the house of Ikoma is still quite favored among the Empress court, and their bards and storytellers are always welcome at every Winter Court, which makes them in high demand for any court trying to be fashionable.
