Wedding at Fire Shrimp Village an L5R PbP

Day 4 Weather, Spring of 1178, 3rd Month, 12th day

The day is fair, with a cool breeze throughout the day, with a sunrise in the Mid Morning and the sun setting in the Late Evening, and the surf is treacherous today, increase TN of all checks in the sea by 5. Light rain in the Evening Hours due to dark clouds but ends by Mid Night.

Peasants spend the morning hours cleaning up from the festival. If a player does not roll in the Mid Night event it is assumed they fell asleep where they were and can wake up the next slot or sleep till morning.

In the Mid Morning you can make the Void roll as detailed below.

Rumors and Whispers

Heard the ronin isn't a witch, she went before Fuboshi-dono and everything. Man I am glad that is cleared up.

I hear someone is calling a gathering of wave-people at the beach tomorrow night [Day 4 - EN].

The Crane are amazing, Fuboshi-dono said so.

What day will it be? Is it still yesterday? No, is it Tomorrow? What day will it be?

The people will be blessed with much fertility due to the work of the samurai in the parade!

Hey Sato is going a bit nutty, says he died last night, or something. Something about a sea creature ate him, but he's not dead? I bet he got drunk again.

The Curse

The players can in the Mid Morning make a Void roll at TN 20 to recognize they are reliving the same day over again. Failure on this roll means they do not realize that the day has repeated. If they pass this roll they do not have to roll again for the duration of the Curse to know they are stuck in a time loop. Please see below for any possible modifiers to this roll.

Each player will begin the day with one Void already spent due to the effects of the Curse, this is spent before they make the Mid Morning roll.

Modifiers

The following Advantages or Disadvantages apply to this roll; Clear Thinker, Precise Memory, or Unlucky.

Hotei’s Blessing applies and will prevent the Void loss. Blessed by Yume-do decreases the Void roll TN by 5. If Cursed by Sakkaku you automatically pass the Void roll but all TNs are increased by 2 for the duration of the Curse. If Cursed by Yume-do then the player suffers a loss of one additional Void at the start of the day in addition to the one lost for the Curse.

If the character has Frail Mind, Lord Moon’s Curse, or Gullible then the TN is increased by 5 for the Void Roll. Characters with Haunted have no change to the Void roll TN but the ones Haunting them know the day is repeating and this gives the character a +2 increase to all TNs due to their Haunted help.


What this Means

The players begin the day in the exact same place they started Day 3, but they are not required to do the same things though events may happen the same but altered based on actions. This means you are not required to join the same events as the day prior but any planned Day 3 events should probably happen. Also, all evidence of the prior day is erased and set back to the state it was at the start of Day 3 in the Early Morning. This also means if you had any wounds or injuries, they revert to their Day 3 state as of the Early Morning.

The exception is XP, any XP spent is applied and gone.

Death

If you died and it was not due to the Curse, as in the event at Mid Night or direct action of Hitomi then you will be alive the next day with the trauma of knowing you died and also that you are in a time loop. This is damaging to the psyche and all TNs are increased by 5 until the Curse is resolved, but you automatically pass the Void roll and know you are reliving the same day over and over again.

If you die due to the Curse, you are dead and may reroll but rerolls are limited to Crab or ronin for the duration of the Curse. Rerolls do not start knowing they are living the same day over and over again.
