“To the sacrifices we choose.” He forgot to say he agreed on that. “Kampai!”

[Yoko]

"Kampai!" she joined in the cheer, drinking deeply of her cup.

[Otomo Saisei]

As he puts the cup down, he asks, “I am curious to k os how has this girl fared so far.”

[Yoko]

"Depends on how you look at it," she shrugged. A soft click of the sound as she set her cup back down. Looking to him with a small smirk, "None to say she actually exists, eh? Just another tale to share and consider."

[Otomo Saisei]

“It is a sad story, that has true roots. My own family suffered from such a cruel personality. I believe it got famous enough to make sure it would never be repeated. It is a shame it has been so. If such story is not just for tales.” The Imperial takes another sip and checks Yoko’s cup.

[Yoko]

"Stories like that are far more common than you think, I think, Otomo-sama," she suggested with a humorless smirk. Pointing downward, she continued, "You just have to look a bit lower than you'd normally like."

Her cup was empty where it lay.

[Otomo Saisei]

"It is sad then, if it is as Yoko-san says. The example should be better learned and we as samurai are failing to propagete it." He pours more sake to the woman, and finishes his cup.

"What would have been this girl's dreams?"

[Yoko]

"I think the girl just wanted to get out of there, eh? After an experience like that, just to get away for a while, forever probably. Without a good role-model she probably would have become quite the unfortunate kinda person," she smirked, shaking her head a little. Leaning up a little offer the pour for him in exchange.

[Otomo Saisei]

His eyes instinctively follow her leaning and he forcibly diverts them elsewhere, saying, "Thank you."

After a moment –– still maintaining eyes cast elsewhere –– he says, "I like that story better. Would she have learned with a good master that might have adopted her, or did she learn to life free, alone in the world?"

[Yoko]

"Which one would you prefer it to have been? Could have been both?" she suggested, looking to him as she quirked a brow. "After the girls story ends, what she became after that would have been an entirely different one," shrugging.

[Otomo Saisei]

He shrugs, "Yoko-san is the storyteller and I am the audience. Please, do tell me how it went on. Yet, to answer her question, I would say having a master would be the most intelligent path."

[Yoko]

"Sure-" she smirked, giving a little wave of her hand. "But after she went off from the first story, it became a whole new story eh? I'm not gonna claim it my right to speculate further than that. So," she gave a little raise to her glass, sipped, "I'm hoping she found herself a good future. For what that's worth."

[Otomo Saisei]

"I cheer to that, then." The Otomo raises his cup and sips. "To the sacrifices we make for a better future."

[Yoko]

"To that," she added, a smirk as she joined herself to the toast.
