[Day 3 - Early Afternoon] Chores and Busywork

Staying at the inn has been a pleasant upgrade to staying in her tent, especially with a roof over her head and some meals to keep her stomach from groaning. However, she also had to pitch in and earn her keep. It wasn't a permanent arrangement and she didn't expect it to be but it was a good deal. She tied back her sleeves with a headband around her forehead and put herself to use.
During the busy hours of noon, she could be seen mopping the floors with a broom, keeping the entrance clean as the inn saw its daily traffic. Menial but simple, at least.

When she finished she could see damp small muddy steps in the walkway heading into the main room of the Inn.
But she does not recall seeing anyone pass by her.

Yue frowned at first, that was going to be a mess that she needed to clean up again. She should just get back to work but she should at least see who was so clever to slip past her. There was also bound to be a bigger mess too. Taking her bucket, she followed the trail to its source.

In the main room there is just a n old man sitting drinking tea and no one else.
But when she looks around she sees the muddy steps walked across the room and then up a wall.

"Ugh..." Yue murmured under her breath as she looked befuddle at the evidence but decided to keep her shock to herself for now. Her gaze did go up the same wall to see what magical thing could have caused this.

There is nothing on the ceiling where the muddy steps stop.

Yue looked to see if it was even feasible for someone to get up to the ceiling with the proper tools or not.

It might be possible but with the ways the steps are on the wall it would need magic or be inhuman… and then she hears a light giggle just behind her ear.
Then a girl’s voice,
“You’re it.”

Okay, as much as Yue was willing to keep things a secret...this was not what she signed up for and was already screaming when she snapped her attention to see what was behind her, immediately pouncing backward if she could.

“Samurai-sama, are you okay?” Jun asked peeking her head into the main room.
She frowned and added, “I thought you were cleaning… how did you miss the mud?”

Yue held the broom up to her body and panted as she caught her breath. When Jun around, she could be met with a ronin with wide open eyes like she had just seen...a ghost, actually. Maybe it was one of the children around the area playing tricks on her? Unfortunately, her nature made her think of the extraordinary first before the ordinary.
"Hai...I was, sorry...I thought I saw someone here. There was giggling and then it was gone," she murmured as she strung her thoughts together and tried to explain herself.

“Is it those silly children again?” Jun said looking around the room. “Look, you want some help out here?”
“The lunch rush will be soon.”

"Children? Not spirits, right?" Yue was quick to mention, openly having a rather superstitious side of her revealed over the matter, "...maybe like kitsune spirits or something? We are rather close to some woods..."
"Sorry," she said with a shake of her head, "I think I should be able to have this done, I was about finish until I saw the footprint. Maybe the children do like playing tricks on the seasonal help..."

Jun laughed lightly and said, "Kitsune? The many tailed fox spirits? My mother told me a story about them, but I didn't think they were around here."
"Too many horrible things out there, but if it is a fox spirit, that would be cute."
She knelt down and started helping with the clean up, "You look shaken, are you okay?"

When Jun knelt down Yue saw a young girl with her back towards her, standing behind the peasant girl. Long greasy dark hair and water stained clothes. Water drips off the child and seems to be pooling on the ground forming a pool she assumes at the feet of the girl.

"Mrm..." she murmured at first regarding her theory of the kitsune, "I don't know if they would be considered cute they cause a lot of mischief and are known to possess people in the middle of the night..."
Yue suddenly blanched when and staggered back with a look of fear on her face as she pointed behind Jun nearly in hysterics. "..b-be-BEHIND YOU!"

She turned and slipped and sprawled out on the floor but the girl was gone.
And then...

Despite thinking she was quick and perhaps would have sufficient distance from the thing with Jun between them, Yue wasn't that fast.

A beam fell and crushed the poor peasant girl. Blood spraying from her crushed chest and legs.

"..." Yue was completely speechless at what just transpired before her, especially when it became so fatal.
She didn't know if she was responsible for this and felt the urge to run. However, she felt some tinge of responsiblity and she couldn't be the only one here.
"HELP!" she cried out as she currently went to the peasant girl and tried to remove the beam from her, not knowing if she was actually dead or not.

Others come and assist the ronin in removing the broken beam that fell from above. The girl was still alive but her body was badly mangled.
Her recovery would be long and uncertain.

After the rubble was cleared, Yue staggered back and put herself against a wall as she caught her breath. She still scarcely knew what just happened. "...there was another girl! Or a spirit! Something!"

"Another girl?" a peasant responded.
"Spirit?" an older woman said looking at the ronin.
The peasants begin to speak among themselves speaking of evil spirits and worse being Crab peasants.

"Wait, there is another?!" she asked in shock, demanding some answers from the peasant. It was likely she wasn't doing anything to help calm down the situation, "she appeared out of nowhere and disappeared! She was dark and wet!"
