[Day 7 MA] The Foraging

As most people departed for The Hunt, Sana thought about what to do at the Blue Bird House. Most of his artistic attempts have been a failure today. He already prayed for the Fortunes, Kintaro was off... Well, that Castle really should benefit from having a garden, although maybe it would not be cared for.

I guess that this is the type of thing that starts with a single flower... Oh, ikebana! Right! Something that required more perception than manual precision. A great choice for today, when his hands decided to fail him over and over. He searched around and down in the city, yet found no garden, or even flowers for sale. Crabs were really a thing, and he doubted their servants would know how to deal with flowers. How to cut them, even. This meant he was to do the dirty work himself.

So there went a miraculously casually-dressed Sanaharu in the... "forest", searching for beautiful flowers or cute twigs. He had unbound the peacekeeping lace on the hilt of his wakizashi, tying it around his finger, ready to draw if necessary.

He finds field of lovely wild flowers and even wild roses of reds of pink.

Sanaharu was a happy man.

He takes those he would use to make a friendly ikebana...

Then he gazes at some lovely wild roses. Red and pink, oh my- He blushes and can't resist taking them along too. Perhaps... If he took one of those and planted it on the Bronze Castle, it would one day make a good pillow book about it.

Fine offerings for Benten.

He hears light laughter and snickering coming from thick brush on the edge of the wild flower glade.

He heard something.
Huh.
He puts all flowers in one hand, turning in direction of the sound, staring at the bush, not saying a word.
Then he bows, as etiquette commands on how one greets others.

"Out picking flowers?" a voice replied from the bush.

"As it seems. Have you eaten your portion of rice today?"

"Oh I don't like rice, but I had rabbit and some speckled fish," the voice replied now having moved to another bush.

Shocked. He had a good on at least, so he did not appear so.
Which kind of barbarian would answer a question this way?
...Unicorns. Ronin.

He distanced himself from the bushes in a step.

"Out hiding on bushes?"

"Not hiding, I am talking to you?" the voice replied.

"You can call me Kojimasu, and you are?"

"I would like to see you, Kojimasu-san. I'm Asahina Sanaharu."

"Maybe tomorrow, if you bring me some fish to enjoy," they responded.

"I will give you a gift in return," the voice replied.

Probably a ronin. Maybe a spirit. He should return here with Masao.

"If you don't like rice, do you eat millet?"

"Fish is fine, fresh is best," the voice replied and then he hears something run off.

He sighs and resumes his flower-picking job. He was curious, not going to lie here.
