Wedding at Fire Shrimp Village an L5R PbP

In the afternoon Fuboshi has brought a group of samurai out tot eh Hinterlands to do some hunting. They have decided into two groups, one will be led by Doji Kintaro and Hida Yoji and will be hunting typical game and nothing overly dangerous. Yuahime has decided to join this group while Fuboshi will be leading a smaller hunting team to go after a boar and bring home something sporting.

OOC: The Fuboshi thread is limited to 3 additional members and the other Hunting thread is unlimited.

Kintaro rested on a log and strung his yumi in preparation for the hunt.

Yuahime tested her grip on her spear, satisfied she nodded to Kintaro.

Ikeda Ishi was nearby as well.

Hifumi followed Yuahime with her own apear.

Shouji was interested in going after a boar. He knew his own limitations though and had joined the more sedate of the hunting groups. He had a spear if it was provided but otherwise prefered to rely on his bow. It had been a while since he got to do anything like this, and he couldn't help but be a little excited.

Each member that arrived got a thorough greeting from Bujaro, Yoji's dog. He barked loudly and licked at their hands and basically seemed very excited to be out and about.

OOC: This is mostly an RP thread but if they want to Hunt small game make a Hunting + Perception check at TN 13, if they want larger game that is a Hunting + Perception check at TN 20; if successful they can make a Kyujutsu +Reflexes or Spears + Agility check to bring down the prey. TN 15 for small game and TN 20 for large game.

The dog got a few pets from Shouji before it scampered off towards the next person. The Mantis's eyes looking over the small group as they moved forward.

"So, what are the we after? Anything specific, or whatever we can catch?" He asked no one in particular.

"So, what are the we after? Anything specific, or whatever we can catch?" He asked no one in particular.

"Hopefully something bigger than a rabbit... peasants say there is an abundance of deer," he responded.

"Deer would be good." Hifumi smiled.

"A deer huh, I suppose I can see if I can find any tracks." The Captain replied as he started to look for what signs he could.

The Tsuruchi apparently knew his business because in short order he had found a trail and was leading the others along it.

In a fluid, practiced, motion the Monkey threw her spear, striking the heart cleanly.

"A fine throw Fuzake-san." Shiuji offered to the Monkey as the beast was brought down by her spear. At least they wouldn't be going home empty handed.

It would be a shame especially if the others did find a boar.

"Good tracking, Tsuruchi-sama." she smiled.

"Thank you." The Mantis replied with a soft chuckle. "It's a hobby of mine, though not one I get to practice too often."

"There isn't a lot of hunting to be done on the ocean." Well unless you were chasing down other ships, but... That wasn't the type of thing you talked of out loud.

"I've found it to be a useful ability." she nodded.

"You're not wrong." He agreed with a nod. "Especially if you spend a lot of time traveling."

He glanced towards the deer which was now being prepared for transport back. "Which if i recall is the case."

"Hai." she nodded again. "Some travels were to remote areas with few villages. Or, to villages without the resources to host an unexpected visitor."

"And there is only so much one can carry with them." Shouji said with a nod. "Sounds like you've had your fair share of tough times though."

His gaze drifted to the rest of the group and how they fared with the hunting. "Most of my difficulties have to do with the weather."

Daichi joined the group in some sturdy functional clothes for moving through the wilderness and came up next to his brother being almost Yoji's equal in size and clapped him on the back "come now Brother we should look for a boar bigger than the one Mother is planning to bring back so you can show off that impressive strength for your intended." He bellowed a little.

"I can imagine." she chuckled. "Weather can be difficult enough on land."

"True enough." Shouji agree with a smile. "More difficult in some ways I imagine. Snow isn't one thing that often worries me at sea for example."

"Though storms are noticeably more troubling."

Yoji chuckled and aid, "If you wanted boar should have went with mother... but maybe we can find something to make her proud."

"Bujaro find us a hunt worthy of us," he directed to his playful dog.

"I could be quite happy without snow." she chuckled. "But, storms at sea must be quite dangerous."

"Yes, knowing how to handle them helps. Though there is really only so much that can be done as well." He smiled.

"That's just something you learn to live with though."

"Just trying your best to stay on course, while uncontrollable forces throw you about? I can appreciate that."
