[Day 2 - EE] Welcome Dinner [RP thread]

[Doji Yuma]

The Scorpion decided to seek a Crane as yet met, as she he had already was busy and he would most like see that night. He approached and bowed politely.

"Good evening, friend Crane", he spoke quite clearly through his mask. "A pleasant eve we have here, and good company this one seeks. Are you busy otherwise?"

Yuma returned the bow and slightly tilted an eyebrow at the Scorpion's phrasing:

"If you're asking if I have obligations, official or implicit, to attend this dinner, then the answer is no."

He looked better at him:

"Aren't you the warrior that was accompanying Shosuro Himeko-sama? I don't think we've been formally presented? I'm Doji Yuma, serving my clan as a priest."

[Bayushi Shitoru]

"I am Bayushi Shitoru, a kenshi from the Fortress of Blackened Sight." He bowed. "A priest, you say?" he seemed pleased to hear it. "Will it be your honor to see to the ceremony or will that fall to our hosts?"

"I hope that won't be the case tonight," Yuuwaku replies. "And I am glad my kin were so good to you. We try to be so, of course."

She nods. "But the event last night was certainly...stimulating. One wonders how tonight's will be."

"Well, for me –– especially –– the Crane are indeed close kin. Fortunes didn't want my eyes to go bright, though." He mentions with a chuckle, allowing that moment to lock their gaze a bit more. Then, eyes are diverted once more, and he asks, "What about Kakita-sama: any interesting personalities, so far?"

[Hida Daichi]

Daichi sat up near his family but in a spot of obviously lesser importance. The big Crab wore a much nicer kimono than usual that was clearly made to look good and show off his large physique.

The big Crab was well behaved for the most part and quietly enjoying the meal and drink with a pleasant, if slightly bored look on his face.

[Moshi Minari]

Following not far behind her captain was a... completely unknown Moshi.

Moshi Minari was elegantly dressed in a hanfu the color of sea-grass and stormy skies, her tanned face was powdered and pale, with red painted lips, red and black eyemakeup, and with delicate pink-tinted cheeks. Meiko had been hard at work in creating this masterpiece.

She moved slowly, mostly because she had no idea how to move otherwise in this pretty confection of silk, and because Meiko had drilled it into her that a proper lady didn't take long hasty strides.

The black hair had been combed, oiled and done up in a cute updo secured with pretty hairpins and combs.

[Kakita Yuuwaku]

"Well, for me –– especially –– the Crane are indeed close kin. Fortunes didn't want my eyes to go bright, though." He mentions with a chuckle, allowing that moment to lock their gaze a bit more. Then, eyes are diverted once more, and he asks, "What about Kakita-sama: any interesting personalities, so far?"

"Oh, several," she replies, perhaps a bit breathily. "It's an exciting time, even aside from the procession. The coming nuptials seem to have brought out many entertaining, enrapturing characters. I doubt I'll have a chance to meet them all, but I look forward to making a great many connections--and the deeper, the better."

Her fan continues to flutter under her chin. "But then, weddings are about bringing together disparate elements, aren't they? And I remember the music sensei saying that there's no harmony without different notes."

"A prepared man is good to find," Yuuwaku says, still smiling. "But who could I do better to meet than you, Otomo-san?"

Cheeky, maybe. The hint of a wink may well be more so.

"From my understanding our hosts will organize and preside it. They might ask me to throw in a blessing at some point for style but I think they will be fully in charge from start to finish otherwise. As they should since, well, they're the hosts and we're the guests."

As the highest ranking Crane present, it is no surprise that Kakita-Bugyo is present. He is mostly demure, his field of observation moving across the room like an air kami dancing in a hurricane.

It's as if he was looking for trouble more than anything else.

"Yasuki and Hida seem not to listen well to one another, and when it shows greatly, they listen to no one else, either. There was no blood drawn, but all parties were relieved at their departure."

Roger settles into his seat at the table, his daughter sitting next to him. She seems to be on her best behavior being very careful to mind her manners, almost robotic in her overly formal movements.

"None in particular. My time so far has been filled with a lot of necessary in-clan tasks and I didn't really have the opportunity to build out-clan ties yet.

But as a veteran warrior you shouldn't have a hard time finding some common ground with most of them I guess? Especially if you partook in a famous battle or another."

Rather than pressing the disinteresting issue, Shitoru kept to the Crane's duties. "Have your tasks been going well? The Crab despite their infamous pragmatism are quite a spiritual people."

"If it's any consolation, you did far better than I ever would have," Koemi remarked, waving a hand in front of her discolored eye for emphasis. She smiled afterwards, the curvature of her lips too harsh. Why was she smiling so hard?

And then it faded as she looked the Kitsuki over. "Quite a few of you are here, so I've heard. I'm used to seeing solitary Dragon."

Disappearing during the dinner for some reason, he returns to the room and checks its vibes, scanning it for anything that draws his attention. The talk between Yuuwaku and Saisei was one of such things. Whilst normally he would approach, he sees the expression on the young Otomo's face and has to draw his fan to hide his smile, looking elsewhere.

He turns his attention them to the ruling family here. He found a large Hida there. To the closeness he had, either a minor brother of the groom or a close retainer. Someone worthy of his attention, nevertheless. Sanaharu approaches Daichi with a low bow. "Oh, Hida-sama! Have you eaten your portion of rice today?"

Tanaka likewise studied the Yoritomo, "These things happen unfortunately," The Dragon was calm, "It is my fault for not studying the customs more before giving the gift."

"Kitsuki Tanaka of Dragon. Two of four." She folds her hands into her kimono. "Though Mantis-sama's own kin are two boats full no? And maybe some besides."
